European Para-Cycling Championships: Great Britain wins three golds


Sophie Unwin and pilot Jenny Hall retained their road race titles as Great Britain won 18 medals, including three golds, at the 2026 UEC Para-Cycling Road European Championships in Italy.

Unwin, who is visually impaired, and Hall won road race gold at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, as well as individual pursuit titles on the track.

The pair finished just 0.75 seconds behind Ireland’s Katie-George Dunleavy and Linda Kelly in Friday’s time trial.

But they gained revenge in Sunday’s road race, edging out the other Irish tandem of Dunleavy and Kelly and Sinead Greenan and Alice Sharp.

Unwin and Hall Company will be part For next month’s Commonwealth Games, Unwin will represent England alongside new pilot Sylvia Mistall and will be part of Team Scotland.

But the pair are set to reunite for September’s Para-Cycling Road World Cup in Huntsville, Alabama.

There was also gold for Crystal Lane-Wright, who beat teammate Morgan Newberry in the women’s C5 time trial and claimed road race bronze, while Amelia Cass won the C2 event and added silver in the road race.
