Eta Aquarid Meteor shower tip: where and when to see it in the UK

Large areas of cloud will affect many parts of the UK during the early part of Tuesday night but this cloud will break to give some clear signals, particularly in the north of the UK.

Astronomers in Scotland may have good conditions with clear skies for most of the night.

Northern and eastern England will see some big breaks in cloud, although there will be a chance of a shower or two – in Northern Ireland cloud levels will increase slightly in the early hours.

It will be more of a struggle to the south with cloud lingering over parts of Wales and southern England and parts of the Midlands, although occasional breaks are possible here.

Temperatures will drop into the single digits, possibly below freezing in parts of Scotland and northern England.
