Esteban Andrada: Real Zaragoza’s goalkeeper has been banned for 13 games for punching a Hyska player.

Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has been banned for 13 games for punching a Huesca player.

Andrada was sent off for a second time in extra time late in Sunday’s Spanish second division derby.

The Argentine then ran up to Huesca captain Jorge Pulido and punched him in the face.

That led to a brawl, resulting in the dismissal of Hauska’s goalkeeper Dani Jimenez and Zaragoza’s Dani Tassende.

The Spanish Football Federation slapped Andrada with a 12-match ban to continue his first automatic one-match ban.

“The truth is, I’m very, very sad about what happened,” Andrada, 35, said on Sunday.

“It’s not a good image for the club, the fans and especially for a professional like me. So I’m very sorry.

“I have only received one red card in my life and that was for a handball outside the penalty area.

“I also want to apologize to Jorge Pulido because we are colleagues, and really, it was my fault. I lost my focus at that time, and well, I am here for any result that the league can give me.”

Following the 1-0 defeat, Zaragoza, who are in the relegation zone with Husca, issued a statement on Sunday saying they “strongly condemn what happened” and “will take appropriate disciplinary action”.
