Messi scored one goal and another to lead Argentina to a 3-2 comeback win over Egypt.Today, Tuesday, at the Atlanta Stadium, in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After the match, Al-Shawali posted a message on his personal account on the “X” website, in which he praised the Egyptian team’s performance, without saying a word about Messi, despite constantly expressing his admiration for him.
The Tunisian commentator wrote: “Before the match, many expected a comfortable passage for Argentina, but the Egyptian team defied all expectations and presented one of its greatest performances in the history of its participation in the World Cup.”
He explained. “(Egypt) took a two-goal lead against the world champions, imposed their character and forced Argentina into their toughest moments of the tournament.”
“It is true that the end was a painful 3-2 defeat after a dramatic comeback by the Argentines in the final minutes, but what the Pharaohs presented was a lesson in courage, discipline and the ability to take on the world’s greats.”
He concluded. “Egypt crashed out of the tournament but emerged with their heads held high, earning everyone’s respect and proving that Arab and African football can match the world’s strongest teams.”
