Erling Haaland: How the Norwegian star could end up with 260 international goals.

Haaland has now scored 25 goals in each of his 13 competitive appearances for Norway.

Yes, that includes filling the shoes of Moldova, Israel and Estonia. But Holland scored twice in Italy’s 4-1 thrashing.

Then they scored two more goals to tame the threat of Iraq at the World Cup as Norway cruised past Senegal.

He landed on France – denying the world a matchup between him and Kylian Mbappe – but he made a stunning return to the XI for 32 of the last 10 changes from manager Stale Solbakken and produced a priceless, perfectly timed interception.

There was no standout player on the field in Dallas. Antonio Noosa and Amad Diallo scored the best goals. Haaland was a support act until the 86th minute.

He threw just 10 passes against Dallas, and all eight were successful. He only took 27 shots in the 90 minutes, half of which were in his own half.

But, while the goals may not have been spectacular, they came from instinct, movement and timing – only six of Norway’s goals were penalties – and they came at just the right time against the Ivory Coast.

A Norway fan told BBC Sport in Dallas: “It means everything to us. It’s crucial at times like this.

“He’s one of the reasons we qualified in the first place and the reason we won today. He’s by far the most important player. He’s the greatest player Norway has ever had and probably will ever have.”

“To score five goals in three games at the World Cup, for a small country like Norway, I wouldn’t trade him for anyone,” Solbakken said.

He is the greatest goal scorer in the world of football today.
