Chelsea’s Fernandes wasn’t happy with his performance on the pitch, but he continued to tease the Englishmen via his Instagram account, where he reposted a photo of himself laughing with his Argentina team-mates Lionel Messi and Leandro Paredes, captioning it “Happiest of days”.
He chose to accompany the post with the famous song “Wonderwall” by the British band Oasis, a move that attracted attention, especially since the song was constantly played by England fans and was associated with the Three Lions’ celebrations of their World Cup victories.
Fernandez will now turn his attention to the World Cup finals as he tries to help Argentina win a second successive title when they face Spain in next Sunday’s final.
