Enrique: Our defense was better than our attack against Bayern Munich

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique praised his team’s fighting spirit against Bayern Munich, expressing his delight at qualifying for a second consecutive Champions League final.

Saint-Germain drew 1-1 at home to Bayern Munich at the Aliaz Arena to reach the Champions League final, benefiting from a 5-4 first-leg win at Prince Park.

Enrique said in a statement published by UEFA’s official website“Beautiful memories. We left the game very excited. Defense was better than offense. The fighting spirit we showed against a team like Bayern Munich was very positive. We are very happy to have reached the Champions League final for the second time in a row.”

He added: “It was a very tense and difficult match. They play football at the highest level. Both teams are similar. We love high pressure. We are very happy.”

He continued his statements. “In two days I will celebrate my birthday. I am very happy. We are in the next stage of the tournament, the Champions League final. We want to present such a gift to our fans.”

It is noteworthy that in the final of the Champions League, “Paris Saint-Germain” will meet “Arsenal”, which defeated “Atletico” Madrid by the total score (2-1).

In other statements addressed to “Paris Saint-Germain”, Enrique said: “It’s incredible. I think what we performed tonight, and throughout the season, especially in the Champions League, was at an exceptional level.”

“We played against one of the best teams in the world away from home and we did it with all the necessary maturity and character. This shows what kind of team we are. Tonight, in front of nearly 4,000 fans who traveled to watch us, we suffered together, as there are always difficult moments.

“Now is the time to enjoy this moment with all Parisians and look forward to another Champions League final.”

“It’s been three years since I arrived in Paris and we’ve always felt this connection between the fans and the team. It’s very important because when you can share this moment with the fans and enjoy playing to this degree at Paris Saint-Germain, it’s really great.

He concluded his statements. “We have to keep working hard because we still have one match to win in the Champions League. We also need to win our next game in the French league against Brest to win the title. It’s important to keep going.
