With a few exceptions, perhaps including another Manchester City player in John Stones, Tuchel has shown that fame means little to him out of shape.
If the requirements fall through, there is a line of players waiting to get their chance.

But Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, joint top scorer in the Premier League with 14 goals, has not done enough to get on the plane.
Gibbs-White won six England caps but has not featured since the 3-0 friendly win over Wales in October.
It may be telling that his only competitive game under Tuchel was in the two World Cup qualifiers against tiny Andorra.
Although he scored 6 goals in the last six club games, he did not change the coach’s mind.
The winner looked like Arsenal’s Iberechi Eze, who played consistently well on the ball even though the stats didn’t show it.
Seven goals and two assists in the Gunners’ Premier League-winning campaign may not sound impressive – but Tuchel has netted three goals in six World Cup qualifiers.
Eze sat out the March friendlies with injury, opening the door for Foden and Palmer to enter Tuchel’s plans.
England drew 1-1 with Uruguay and lost 1-0 to Japan; Neither had a spectacular performance.
So Eze’s absence only served to prove to Tuchel how important it is for Bellingham and Rodgers to offer something different.
Eze is a player who adds speed and unpredictability to change the way the team plays.
At one level, Foden and Palmer were expected to be starters, not backup options like Eze.
Now they have to live with the fact that they are not considered good enough for the team, at least in terms of form.
