The confrontation takes place after a tense football match
England rugby captain Jimmy George has warned his team will take a firm stand if his players are subjected to racist abuse during Saturday’s Nations League third round match against Argentina.
The warning comes a year after England players were racially abused during a clash in Argentina, while the match coincides with a charged atmosphere days after Argentina beat England 2-1 in the World Cup semi-final in the United States.

England recalled their visit to San Juan in July 2025 when substitutes Asher Opoku-Fordjour and Chander Cunningham-South were subjected to racist abuse by Argentine fans. A year later, the English national team confirmed its readiness to take a position if the issue is repeated.
Jimmy George said during the press conference. “If something like this happens, it deserves the strongest reaction. This has no place in our world, and I am absolutely convinced of it. We have had discussions about what-if scenarios.
George added, according to a newspaper report “L’Equipe” French. “At the same time, we have an alternative plan. The first thing we will do is report what we saw to the referee so that it can be included in the report. We are in the process of deciding what we will do from our side.”
The Saracens player added that he would hold discussions with his colleagues from different backgrounds to decide how to deal with any potential incidents.
When asked if the England team could go so far as to leave the field, George replied: “That’s an option we’re looking at.”
