England star Helen Housby will miss Commonwealth Games 2026 due to injury.
The games are set to take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2, but England will be without their key goal shooter.
In April it was revealed Housby would miss an “extended period” of the Suncorp Super Netball season with a back injury, with further scans confirming she would not be able to compete this summer.
Housby, who famously scored England’s last-minute winner to win gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, said he was “devastated” to miss out on the Glasgow event.
“It’s an honor to represent Team England and it carries some of my proudest and fondest memories,” he said.
“Despite the setback I am more determined than ever to come back stronger and get back on court as soon as possible, especially with the World Cup in Sydney on the horizon.
“I’m lucky to be surrounded by an incredible support system and I’m so grateful for the love I’ve received from my closest, England Netball, New South Wales Swifts and Vitality Roses fans.
“I’m excited to see what our girls can achieve this summer and I’ll give everything I can off the court to support them in Glasgow. I truly believe our squad can beat anyone and I’m looking forward to watching as a fan this time around.”
