England bowler EC Wong will undergo a hamstring scan a month before the World Cup

After the ODIs, England will play three T20Is against New Zealand and three more against India as a ramp-up to their World Cup preparations.

Their World Cup campaign begins on June 12 against Sri Lanka at Edgbaston.

Key spinner Sophie Ecclestone, 27, also sat out Sunday’s win with a quad problem.

The camp have suggested that Ecclestone’s injury is only minor, and he has been spotted at the gym in Chester-le-Street, but it is unclear whether he will be fit for Wednesday. He has only played twice for Lancashire this season.

Captain Nat Syver-Brunt also misses the New Zealand ODIs with a torn left calf. He is set to make his T20 return against the White Ferns.

If Wang’s issue is worse than feared, the situation is further complicated by the injury to all-rounder M Arlot on Sunday.

The 28-year-old will be one of the frontrunners to replace Wang but has been ruled out of the New Zealand ODI series under concussion protocol after suffering a head injury while batting in the nets.
