Kylian Mbappe will miss Real Madrid’s crucial La Liga match against Barcelona despite training for El Clasico with his teammates for the trip to the Catalan capital.
The top scorers in the league were not left out of the Real Madrid team that was selected on Sunday night at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona,where the home team can be the champions of Spain and win with their players.
Footage from Real Madrid’s home training session on Saturday, which showed Mbappe taking part in a training session, showed the Frenchman had recovered from the stomach injury he suffered two weeks ago, but his name was missing from the 21-player squad named on TV.
Brazil star Vinicius Jr will lead the forward line for Los Blancos and will be supported by Brahim Diaz and Gonzalo Torres.
Meanwhile, Aurelien Tchouameni was named among the midfielders despite a recent spat with teammate Federico Valverde that cost both players 500,000 euros ($589,000) each.
Barcelona will go into the game as favorites to not only win the match but also retain the league title. The Catalan giants have an 11-point lead over their rivals, and a draw that would seal their 29th win in Spain with three games remaining.
If Barcelona win their last four league games this season, starting with the battle against Alvaro Arbeloa’s fracturing Madrid, they will equal the all-time league record of 100 points.
Mbappe, a doubt for El Clasico due to a hip injury, was present heavily criticized by fans after vacationing in Sardinia during his recovery.
It made coach Arbeloa to show that he wants to give more to his players.
