€40 million puts Leo on the brink of a new club

Serious negotiations

One of the clubs intensified efforts to sign… Raphael LiaoAfter he sent officials to Italy to hold direct talks with Milan and the player’s representatives, considering interest from Galatasaray and Benfica as well.

This was confirmed by both “Sport Italia” network and Turkish transfer market expert Yagiz Sabuncuoglu. The plane carrying director Cihan Kamer and a number of Fenerbahçe officials landed at Milan airport on Monday evening.

The mission of the “Fenerbahçe” delegation is to discuss the value and personal terms of the deal with the management of “Milan” and Rafael Leao’s entourage.

Reports suggested that Fenerbahce wanted to sign Leo for up to €40m, the minimum that Milan would accept, but the Rossoneri are refusing to complete the deal on a loan with an option to buy.

The footballer is still on holiday with Portugal at the World Cup, where he was in Brazil to promote his clothing brand.

Leo is set to join AC Milan’s pre-season tour of Australia and is expected to head straight there later this week if an agreement is reached on his move before then.

Both Milan and the player know that a parting of the two will happen in the current summer transfer window, but the expected offers have not come as expected, with serious interest so far being limited to clubs in the Turkish league.

Both Galatasaray and Benfica have expressed an interest in signing the player after the Portuguese club moved further after talks with free agent Mohamed Salah, but Fenerbahce have become the first club to personally send officials to Italy to begin negotiations.
