A second man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a teenager who disappeared 28 years ago.
Donna Keogh, 17, was last seen in Middlesbrough on 28 April 1998 and is understood to have traveled to Leeds that year. Investigators said she was “strongly suspected” of being murdered after she went missing.
A 62-year-old man was arrested in the Manchester area and is being interviewed while in police custody, Cleveland police said.
Earlier this year, officers arrested a 64-year-old man in the Leeds area on suspicion of murder. He remains on bail pending investigations, police said.
Despite a decades-long search, her body was never found.
Deputy Senior Investigating Officer Det Insp Evan Kirtley said her family had lived in “impossible uncertainty” for nearly 30 years.
“To give the family some comfort and peace after all this time, someone knows what happened and can tell us.”
Detectives have been investigating her disappearance and suspected murder in the Leeds area in recent months.
The man was arrested on Friday morning, police added.
