Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi managed to write a new chapter in his exceptional career after his big contribution to crown PSG the Champions League title in the 2025/2026 season, so that the French side retained the double ear trophy for the second season in a row.

He also excelled in the Champions League, playing 12 matches in 1034 minutes, scoring one goal and providing six assists, with 19 successful tackles, 38 rebounds and a pass accuracy of over 89%, in addition to a top speed exceeding 37 km/h.

The Moroccan full-back was one of the standout players in the qualifiers as he effectively powered the Paris team to the final, where he was a standout defensive and attacking presence.

A world dream

Hakimi (27) is now set to fly the flag for the Atlas Lions at the World Cup and has made 95 international appearances, scoring 11 goals.

He was also one of the biggest stars of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar when he led Morocco to the semi-finals for the first time in the history of Arab and African football.

Personal claims

On an individual level, Hakimi is eyeing the Ballon d’Or and African Player of the Year awards.

In 2025, he finished sixth in the Ballon d’Or standings, the best position ever achieved by a Moroccan player, and he was also crowned the best African player.

His second consecutive Champions League triumph and anticipated appearance with Morocco at the 2026 World Cup are expected to significantly boost his chances of competing for the Ballon d’Or top spot in 2026 and perhaps closing in on the World Player of the Year award, especially as he became the first African defender to win the award in over 50 years.
