Divock Origi said goodbye to football with a touching message

Origi sent a farewell message to the football wizard on his Instagram page, saying: “My mission as a footballer is complete… I have lived my childhood dreams of playing on the biggest stages and winning the biggest trophies. I thank God for all that.”

He added: “To my fans around the world who helped me shine. Every iconic moment, every goal, every piece of history we’ve created together will be ours forever.”

He continued. “To every club and all the coaches and teammates who have been there for me, thank you. You’ve helped shape me in ways that go beyond the field.”

He continued, “It was a source of pride and happiness for me to represent my home country Belgium, while still keeping Kenya, my roots.”

He added: “To my family and everyone close to me… I would not be the person I am today without you. I will be forever grateful to you.”

He concluded. “Mission accomplished and now I’m moving on to my next mission… and there’s more on the way… with my sincere love.”

Origi scored 41 goals in 175 games for Liverpool, winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup with the Reds.

Origi has also represented Lille, Wolfsburg, AC Milan and Nottingham Forest and has made 32 international appearances for Belgium, scoring three goals.
