Manchester City Running hot they have hit top gear and have momentum. They specialize in courses and distances. So, they will win Premier League Title, right?
Not so fast. Arsenal Blown a big lead and may look emotionally drained, but they still have a chance to end a 22-year wait to be crowned champions for the first time since Arsene Wenger’s “Invincibles”. Now it’s a sprint to the finish line.
The Gunners, runners-up for the past three years, must rid themselves of the apparent mental block standing between them and their holy grail. Manager Mikel Arteta is preaching a message of “no fear, more fire” to players and fans, many of whom seem overcome with a collective neurosis and sense of fatalism about the task at hand. It seems they are expecting the worst.
Arsenal had the chance to go 12 points clear when they faced Bournemouth at home on 11 April. Instead, they suffered what Arteta called a “punch in the face” in a listless 2-1 defeat. It gave City an opening and they opened the door by winning the crunch game between the title rivals.
Now, as that brilliant TV commentator Brian Moore famously said, “It’s all up for grabs.”

City, of course, have won six of the last eight seasons, and Pep Guardiola is so comfortable — on the surface, at least — that he sent his players on a four-day break this week, even reaching a fourth consecutive FA Cup final using a second-string team. Pep’s message to the players was “Go. Do what you want. Be back here by Wednesday afternoon for training.” He says he now realizes that rest and relaxation can be more beneficial than another tough session at this late stage of the season. less is more
The break is another factor in City’s favour. Arsenal’s star players put their feet up during Arsenal’s intense Champions League semi-final clash with Atletico Madrid, with nothing like an easy game against Diego Simeone’s side. That said, the way the rest of the matches play out could give Arsenal an edge.
Arsenal will advance by six points if they lose Fulham At home this weekend, though, City will have two games in hand. In an ideal world, the Gunners would not only win, but start to find a more fluent rhythm than last week’s home scraping against Newcastle.
Its fitness returns Bukayo Saka Could be huge for Arsenal in the run-in, though one or two more – significantly earlier impressive Martin Jubimendi And Declan Rice — See it’s running empty. injury Kai Havertz A blow and mean Victor Gaikeres Will likely be withdrawn at a time when Arteta has lost a bit of faith in him.
Fulham will have no formalities. They have kept a clean sheet in their last two matches Brentford and at home Aston Villa And yet they have their own European hopes. But this is a match Arsenal must win and face their former keeper Bernd Leno.
City returned to action two days later, perhaps taking those six points back, with a smart looking game EvertonWho desperately need points to keep their European ambitions alive. David Moyes’ team recently defeated Chelsea Losing 3-0 at the new stadium but losing late Liverpool and West Ham.
Since partnering, City seem to have lost their occasional fragility at the start of the season Mark Guehy And Abdukodyr Khusanov In central defence. They have conceded just two goals in a six game winning run Jeremy Doc And Ryan Cherky It gave City’s attack another dimension. They have scored 48 of 54 goals this season.
The odds suggest a tough game at the River Mersey but a likely City win.
Next night, next Tuesday, Arsenal face Atletico in their return leg, and who knows how they will come out of such a big night in the club’s history. But before Arsenal return to their Premier League title hunt, City play home to Brentford a day before the Gunners travel to West Ham, who are waging an impressive battle to stay in the Premier League. It’s worth remembering that the Hammers drew City 1-1 at the London Stadium on March 14, making it a dangerous proposition for Arteta.

Pep Guardiola criticizes FIFA World Cup tickets as ‘so expensive’
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has branded World Cup tickets “so expensive”, saying they are “for football fans”.
City is not happy to play three matches in seven days. Crystal Palace At home, the FA Cup final against Chelsea, then a tough trip to a brilliant Bournemouth side capable of ruffling the feathers of a big club. This will be a demanding period where fatigue can be a factor for sky blue men.
Arsenal, meanwhile, finish with a home game against the Exiles Burnley (three points, of course) and a trip to Selhurst Park to play Palace, for those who might have European things in mind.
City’s final day’s assignment, Villa at home, brought back memories of the incredible finish in 2022 when City, 2-0 down after 76 minutes, scored three goals in five minutes to clinch the title. It could be a meaningless game for Villa, who will be in the Champions League next season in any case.
Run-in results are impossible to call with any confidence. It can even be decided on goal difference (very close at the moment) or goals scored (city just ahead).
My idea? Manchester City are in good form now and a team with extra firepower and improved defence. Arsenal should move on, but who would really be surprised if there was another twist or two in the plot.
