Diamond League 2026: Alex E competes in Monaco – How to watch on BBC

Olympic triathlon champion Alex Yeh will compete in a Diamond League event for the first time in seven years when he races over 5,000 meters in Monaco on Friday – live on the BBC.

From the standout one delivery Moments at the Paris 2024 GamesYeh has experimented with marathon running – making his debut in London last year before running the second-fastest British time in history in Valencia.

The 28-year-old began his transition to triathlon this year, but is keen to push himself out of his comfort zone whenever the opportunity arises.

“I think we’ve always seen this kind of template of how we should prepare for an Olympic Games. I’m trying to look at it in a slightly different way to be able to unlock new performances,” Ye told BBC Sport.

“For me, one of the important things in all of this is just learning, being able to take these opportunities and come out the other side as a better athlete overall.”

Ye last competed in a Diamond League 5,000m race in London in 2019 and clocked a personal best of 13 minutes 13.89 seconds.

He will test himself against a formidable field, which features two of this year’s fastest athletes, Addisu Ihune and Birhanu Baleu, world silver medalist Isaac Kimeli and 10,000m world champion Jimmy Gracier.

“New challenges excite me. I’ve grown from being the smallest person in the room. These are the points where you learn and improve your fastest, and I really felt that I did that between the London and Valencia marathons,” Ye said.

“To be able to do that in the same environment as the Diamond League is really exciting.”
