Detectives on 40th anniversary of ‘troubling’ Susie Lamplugh case

On the day of her disappearance, Lamplugh’s diary made an appointment with a man listed as “Mr Kipper” in Shorolds Road.

Her white Ford Fiesta was later found abandoned nearby but no trace of the estate agent was found.

In the year She was “presumed dead” in 1993.

Det Ch Insp Teresa Foster from the Met Police believes Lamplugh may have been targeted by an accomplice.

Her employers thought she would be attractive and attract customers, so she was given a desk in an office window.

Foster said: “I’m inclined to believe that the stalking side, that someone saw her, some kind of predator and then misled her into a fake meeting.

The concept reflects the cause of Lamplugh’s parents, who set up the Suzy Lamplugh Trust after her disappearance. The charity campaigns on personal safety and runs the National Staking Helpline.

Foster said it was the fact that Lamplugh was never found that continued to trouble officers.

“It worries me as a senior investigating officer, and I think that comes down to Susie never being found,” she said.

She added that her wish is still to “bring Susie home.”
