Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal have managed to secure the signature of Dutch winger Crescencio Summerville from West Ham United in a mammoth deal that is believed to be the most expensive of the striker’s career in the current Mercato.

The newspaper confirmed.The AthleticSummerville (24) has signed a four-year contract with Al Hilal after passing a successful medical in the Dutch capital Amsterdam last Tuesday.

The deal is worth more than €70m (£60m), with €55m fixed and £5m in add-ons, according to The Athletic, which shows the deal is a top priority for new management and sporting director Simon Francis, who has joined from Bournemouth.

Al Hilal beat several major European clubs in the race as Roma submitted a bid worth €46 million, while Manchester United were interested in the player’s status and Aston Villa expressed an interest in signing him, but Al Hilal’s offer settled matters.

Summerville’s departure from West Ham was expected following the team’s relegation to the English First Division (Championship), although his contract ran until 2029. The Dutch winger joined West Ham from Leeds United in 2024 and made 56 appearances for them, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists last season alone.

Internationally, Summerville excelled with the Netherlands at the World Cup this summer, where he had two goals and two assists in four games before being knocked out by Morocco in the round of 32 on penalties.
