Despite the Saudi millions… Lewandowski surprises everyone with his new destination

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski has agreed on his next destination after bringing the curtain down on his Barcelona career after four successful seasons in which he won three Spanish league titles.

The decision to leave comes after a successful spell at the Catalan club, with Lewandowski opting for a new experience as he rejected the idea of becoming a substitute player, stressing that he still has the physical and technical ability to continue playing at the highest level.

Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in player and coach transfer news, revealed through his account on the platform:X:“that the transaction was settled, as he wrote. “Robert Lewandowski to Chicago Fire… Agreed.”

Romano added that the Polish striker agreed to join the Chicago Fire Club after visiting the club and the city two weeks ago and getting a closer look at the sports project the club is seeking to implement.

The Italian journalist noted that Lewandowski will officially sign his contract early next week in preparation for the start of a new chapter in his professional career in Major League Soccer (MLS).

After weeks of negotiations and study, the veteran striker made his final decision in the last few days as he traveled to Chicago last week, held a meeting with the club’s management and technical staff and heard the details of the sports project before giving his final approval to complete the deal.

Lewandowski is expected to sign a two-season contract with an option to extend it for a third season with a net salary of more than €10 million per year.

The Polish star also turned down several huge financial offers from clubs in the Saudi League, preferring to accept a new challenge in the American League to start a different station in his football career after spending many years in European stadiums.
