Derry City: Tiernan Lynch ‘firmly believes’ Dundalk can turn form around as loss mounts pressure

Derry City boss Tiernan Lynch said he “firmly believes I can turn it around” although pressure on his position could mount.

The Candystripes suffered a 2-1 defeat against Dundalk at Oriel Park to extend their winless run in the Premier Division to seven games.

Lynch’s side sit sixth in the table, 18 points ahead of pacers Shamrock Rovers, but have challenged for the title this season but the manager is confident he can get them back on track.

“I reflect every day. I don’t need a break to reflect. As I’ve said and continue to say, I look at everything we do and the one thing I have to do is believe I can turn it around,” he told BBC Radio Foil.

“I firmly believe that I can turn it around and I know, no one wants to hear it right now, we just lost. If it’s my reflection, I don’t think anyone needs to worry about me reflecting.

“Right now we need a win. Dominant performance and dominance, certainly what I want my team to play and certainly what I think the fans want to see, but we need to score goals.

“It was very disappointing with a lot of things happening, we have to win games, that’s the bottom line.”
