Paris Saint-Germain celebrated their second successive Champions League title in an exceptional crowd atmosphere in the French capital, with around 100,000 fans gathered on the Champ de Mars under the Eiffel Tower to welcome the continental champions.
According to French media, Dembele, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and team captain Marquinhos took part in the celebration ceremony, while Spanish coach Luis Enrique and Portuguese sporting director Luis Campos received a warm welcome from fans who appreciated their role in leading the team to European glory.
Dembele told a packed crowd that he hopes to return to the festive scene again next year after winning another title, amid the club’s ambitions to continue their dominance on the continent following their success in retaining the European Cup.
For his part, Al-Khelaifi sent a direct message to the fans, during which he thanked the technical staff and the sports administration for the great work that led to this achievement, before calling on the fans to celebrate responsibly, stressing the importance of maintaining the security of the French capital and not repeating the disturbances that accompanied the celebrations.
Al-Khelaifi’s invitation comes in light of the unfortunate incidents during the celebrations in Paris, where one death and two serious injuries were reported, in addition to the arrest of around 500 people due to violence and rioting in the streets, prompting the club president to emphasize the need to celebrate in a sporting and peaceful spirit.
Tens of thousands of fans waited for hours to see the team’s stars return from Budapest, where PSG won the Champions League title after beating Arsenal on penalties to retain the trophy they won last season.
After the public celebration, the Paris Saint-Germain players headed to the Elysee Palace at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, who received the European champions to praise their historic achievement, before the celebration concluded with a special ceremony at the Parc des Princes stadium in front of around 48,000 fans.
