An uncertain future
Morocco’s Youssef Al-Nusairi’s future has become one of the Saudi FA’s most complicated documents after the technical staff’s desire to leave clashed with the player’s insistence on staying, taking the matter into a new phase that could extend until the end of the summer transfer window.
According to reports, German coach Jens Wissing was unconvinced by the levels Al-Nusairi showed in pre-season and has asked the administration to sign a new striker who fits the technical blueprint he is looking to implement before the start of the season.
Artistic vision…and rejection from the player
The desire for changes in the technical staff does not mean that En-Nesiri is a bad player, but it reflects a difference in technical vision. Wissing is looking for a striker who has different attributes, be it constant pressure, movement between the lines or harmony with the method he intends to rely on.

Accordingly, management began communicating with the player’s agent to discuss the possibility of him leaving, while also working to pay his dues, but the answer was clear. Al-Nusairi does not want to leave Al-Ittihad at the moment.
Money decides the battle
The biggest obstacle to En-Nesiri’s departure is not a lack of offers, but the large financial gap between what he receives from the federation and what clubs interested in his services are offering.
The player believes that leaving would mean losing most of his current contract, which led him to initially reject the idea, insisting on his right to continue or receive an offer that would guarantee him the same financial benefits.
Here the union administration faced a real dilemma. It wants to make room to sign a new striker, but cannot force the player to leave in return, especially since he is under contract.
The file could therefore become one of Al-Ittihad’s most prominent challenges in the Mercato, as the club’s success in signing a new striker could be primarily linked to finding a suitable solution to the En-Nesiri crisis, either by convincing him to leave or by reaching a mutually satisfactory settlement, which does not seem close yet.
