As moves for Europe’s top players increase in preparation for the new season, Tottenham have shut the door early on any attempts to poach one of their most famous stars, sending a clear message of rejection to Real Madrid and Manchester City before the transfer window really gets underway.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tottenham have no intention of selling right-back Pedro Boro in the current summer transfer window, despite strong interest from Real Madrid, in addition to the player being linked with a move to Manchester City recently.
According to Romano, coach Roberto De Zerbe considers the Spanish full-back an important element in his artistic project and rejects his departure. The club’s management also agrees with this assessment, which makes it extremely difficult for the player to leave this summer.
Boro is one of the names Real have been tracking for years, particularly since his brilliant spell with Sporting Lisbon in 2023, before Tottenham managed to complete a deal in his favor and bring him to the London side.
Since then, the player’s name has not disappeared from the offices of the Santiago Bernabeu, as Spanish reports have repeatedly confirmed that the management of Real Madrid continue to monitor his development and put him on the list of candidates to strengthen the right-back position.
The player himself had fueled speculation earlier when he spoke of his dream of playing with the world’s best, statements which were interpreted in Spain as an implicit welcome to the idea of wearing a Real Madrid shirt in the future.
But Tottenham and De Zerbe’s position looks decisive this time around, especially as Boro is regarded as one of the team’s most influential players and was one of its most involved elements last season, making it easy for the club to give him up.
