David Francis’ murder conviction overturned by appeals court.

A man convicted of stabbing to death has had his conviction overturned by an appeals court.

Davies Anderson, 22, died in hospital after being found injured at the junction of Huntingdon Street and Woodborough Road, Nottingham.

It was David Francis. He was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 16 and a half years. Next year, but the 63-year-old’s conviction has now been overturned.

But Courtney McCleary, who was jailed for life, had his own separate appeal rejected.

In Wednesday’s far-reaching verdict, the three appeals court judges said Anderson – also known as Ricardo – was “wounded in the heart by a knife” and suffered other stab wounds while inside McLeary’s flat, where everyone was taking drugs.

While there was “no argument” McCleary stabbed Anderson in self-defense after the deceased became violent, Francis said, “he was not involved when the deceased was threatening others in the apartment and was effective as a peacemaker.”
