Ten unreleased tracks by David Bowie, known earlier in his career as Davy Jones, have been released.
David Bowie: The Shell Talmy Recordings with then-producer Shell Talmy is billed by the singer as “the most complete set of tracks ever recorded by David Bowie as a child.”
The set includes contributions from guitarist Jimmy Page, who would go on to form Led Zeppelin, and pianist Nicky Hopkins, who worked with The Beatles, Mann and The Rolling Stones.
One of the previously unheard singles, I Want Your Love, was uploaded to streaming services on Wednesday ahead of the full set’s September 18 release.
Other previously unheard songs set for release include Cupid, Leave It To Me, You Gotta Tell, Certain Woman, Today, I’m Living In A Dream And I Believe I Love You.
Some of the singles from this period of Bowie’s career have already been available – Can’t Help Thinking About Me And What You’re Saying.
Other tracks included in the new compilation are titled You’re in the habit of releasing it and baby like it that way.
“David Bowie the artist is a book of chapters, each turn of the page presenting something completely different and unexpected than the last,” writes music historian Alec Palau in the liner notes.
“Each remarkable chapter in his career deserves to be counted as an addition. This collection, which is the first, if not the first, chapter in David’s musical journey deserves the right amount of attention.”
