Dan Neill expects a “very similar feeling” of trying to live up to expectations after joining Rangers from Sunderland on a three-year deal.
England Under-20 cap Neill, 24, left the Black Cats after eight years and spent the latter half of last season on loan at Ipswich Town.
As well as appointing new manager Derek McInnes from Hearts, Rangers have also signed defenders Ben Godfrey and Ross McCrory, forward Lawrence Shankland and goalkeeper Ivor Pandur this summer.
“This is a new chapter for me,” Neal said.
“I’ve played for Sunderland for a number of years and the weight and expectation of the fans to win every week and the feeling of making or breaking people’s weekends drives me.
“I’ve talked to a lot of people who have been here and they’ve said it’s a very similar feeling, and as a character and as a person that drives me to give 110 percent every day, and I need that in my career.”
And McInnes commented: “He is a technically gifted midfielder who is strong in possession, can contribute goals and brings tremendous energy to the team.
“At 24, we are signing a player who is hungry and ambitious, but who already has significant experience and leadership qualities, having led Sunderland to promotion to the Premier League in 2025.”
