Dan Edwards: Wales fly-half set to make 50th Ospreys appearance

Edwards dropped a Scarlets cap in his Ospreys re-signing video following suggestions fellow Welsh region were chasing his signature.

He repeated this momentum after helping his 22-point haul Ospreys beat Scarlets Bridgend last week.

“It was a little chat, we needed it,” Edwards said.

“The game was fun. The main thing was to win and we did that. It was a packed-out brewery ground and both sets of supporters brought good noise.

“It was a good atmosphere, going on in the stands and on the pitch.

“That’s what we all want as players and supporters.”

The Ospreys are unlikely to qualify for the URC play-offs, so end the season this weekend when they travel to Dublin to play Leinster in a game that ends before Jack Morgan joins Gloucester.

“It’s a great opportunity to go out and enjoy it as a team and send some guys off on the right note,” Edwards said.

It is also a milestone match for Edwards as he is set to play his 50th game for the Ospreys.

“It only seems like yesterday I played my first game so I’m looking forward to getting 50 and hopefully another 50,” Edwards said.

“If I hadn’t had the opportunity at such a young age, I wouldn’t have played 50 games for the Ospreys or now for Wales.”

The season doesn’t end for Edwards with four matches for Wales this summer.

The uncapped match against the Barbarians on June 27 follows three Nations Championship matches against Fiji, Argentina and South Africa.

“The game has great opposition and places to travel, so I’m looking forward to the summer and getting into the Wales camp,” Edwards said.

“I’m only 23 and feel ready to go again.

“We’ll have a few days off this weekend and I’ll freshen up.”
