Cwmbran mum runs off in her own car saving a cat, he can be heard asking.

An animal lover was killed by her own car after she went out to rescue a cat when she hit the handbrake on a slope, an inquest heard.

Jacqueline Davis, 75, got out of the wheelchair of a red Ford Fiesta to get her cat to safety while on a hill on July 6, but the car rolled forward and struck her.

Gwent Coroners Court heard Davies, of Hollybush in Cwmbran, Torfaen, managed to call 999 after the incident, but died in hospital.

In a statement, Davis’ family said she had a “strength that inspires those around her,” adding that they are “desperate for answers.”

The inquest heard that Davies was taken to Cardiff University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries and died the following day.

Coroner Rose Farmer said her immediate cause of death was a massive hemorrhage, damage to the inferior vena cava — the largest blood vessel in the body — and blunt force trauma.

Her family said: “We are heartbroken beyond words at the sudden loss of our beloved mother.

She was a strong, independent mother who was never afraid to speak her mind, and that was one of the many things we loved about her.

“She was honest, determined and full of character, with a strength that inspired those around her.

“Our family is devastated and life will never be the same without her.

We are trying to come to terms with what happened but are desperate for answers.

Gangtok Police are appealing for anyone traveling in the area of ​​Bryn Milwer, Hollybush between 10:00 and 10:30 BST on July 6 to contact police who may have witnessed the crash.

An inquest into Davies’ death will continue on 13 April 2027.
