Controversy over developments in Wydad player case
In light of the financial and legal crisis Zamalek is experiencing with FIFA, the dispute continues over the club’s ability to sign contracts over the next two transfer windows.
After news broke of FIFA’s decision requiring the Whites to pay $809,000 to Moroccan defender Salah Mossadeq, the player’s agent, Salem Mohamed Salem, clarified the matter.
Salem emphasized that FIFA’s decision only deals with the financial aspect and is a preliminary decision requiring Zamalek to pay the financial dues to the player without any immediate disciplinary action or direct decisions to ban the club from registering new players.
He explained that a player’s application to FIFA for a unilateral termination of his contract requires a claim for the entire remaining value of the contract, noting that this procedure is considered normal and common in such disputes between players and clubs.

He also noted that the Zamalek administration has two main options in the next phase, either to file a formal appeal against the ruling or to reach a settlement with the player regarding the financial duties in question.
Regulations expert Amer Al-Amayra confirmed that FIFA has imposed a disciplinary penalty of two transition periods in the event of non-compliance.

The Zamalek club had earlier issued an official statement denying any disciplinary action against them in the Mossadegh case, stressing that FIFA’s decision only concerned the Moroccan player’s financial payments and that the club had already filed an appeal against the decision.
The white club is in a rush to resolve the crisis of accumulated registration suspensions which reached 18 cases and recently dropped to 16 after the administration managed to settle two cases to win the continental license to participate in next season’s African Champions League after winning the domestic league.
