Craig Bellamy is set to stay with Wales as a Burnley move falls through.

Wales manager Craig Bellamy Planned to move He fell to managing champions Burnley.

The Clarets have approached the Football Association of Wales with a view to appointing Bellamy as Scott Parker’s successor.

The 46-year-old had been in talks with the Lancashire club but the move now appears to have collapsed.

The gap is understood to be unrelated to FAW compensation, with negotiations for Bellamy’s backroom staff to join him at Turf Moor believed to be a point of contention.

Bellamy was coached by Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor between 2022 and 2024 and had a brief spell in charge.

BBC Sport revealed that Bellamy was the frontrunner to replace Parker after he was sacked on 30 April.

The former Manchester City, Liverpool and West Ham forward has been appointed Wales boss in 2024.

Wales failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after suffering a penalty shoot-out defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina in Cardiff.

Bellamy’s contract runs until 2028, including the ongoing European Championships in England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland.
