Catalan singer Aitana faces widespread criticism in Argentina. Over his public support for Spain at the 2026 World Cup, the controversy has spread from the sporting arena to the music and art worlds and is now threatening his concert scheduled for next October.
Catalan newspaper Sport reports that the Argentinian clothing brand has announced on social media that it will stop using the name “Aitana” as its trademark, explaining that it “doesn’t want any association with a name associated with a Spanish person” and said it will change its name to “Tini” after the famous Argentine singer.
From celebration to controversy
Aitana performed a concert during Spain’s World Cup title celebrations in Madrid, where the Spanish federation signed him to sing one of the team’s songs, “Super Estrella”, during the tournament.
It also showed its public support for the national team throughout the World Cup, which won much praise in Spain but angered some Argentine fans after the bitter defeat in the final.

A precedent for Rosalia
Aitana was not the only Spanish artist affected by the controversy, as singer Rosalia found herself in a similar situation as her tribute concert, scheduled for last Thursday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Córdoba, was postponed to “maintain the safety of the artists”.
Rosalia eventually apologized for his comments, but the truth is that Aitana did not refer to any rival team or criticize Argentina, but simply supported his national team, making his criticism widely controversial.
An uncertain future
The escalating controversy could affect Aitana’s concert in Argentina next October, given the lingering anger of some Argentine fans who have yet to get over the shock of losing the World Cup final.
