Brazilian Pericles Shamuska, the technical director of Al-Taawoun club, confirmed that his team played a great match against Al-Ahly despite the defeat, which shows that the team deserved at least a point in the match.
Al-Taawun lost to Al-Ahli by two goals in the match that brought them together in the 32nd round of the Roshan Saudi Professional League last night at the King Abdullah Sports Stadium in Buraidah.
With this win, Al Rakhi took their tally to 75 points, third in the Roshen League standings, while: Al-Taaun’s score stood at 52 points, in sixth place.
Ivan Toni and Roger Ibanez scored Al-Ahly’s double in the 17th minute (79′), while Angelo Fulgini (55) scored Al-Taawan’s only goal.
“Congratulations to my team for a great performance against the Asian champions. We were balanced on the pitch and had good chances before Al-Ahly’s goal, but this is football.”
He continued. “True Al-Taawan fans appreciate the work we did and I was very angry about the result… Anyone who was in the stands during the last match doesn’t know how much effort and work we put into the team,” referring to the fans’ chants.
