Charlie’s eighth album Music, Fashion, Film was released on Friday, to mostly positive reviews.
Built around shredded guitar samples and acid-burnt melodies, the star finds Brat dissecting her relationship with art and fame after turning her from cult favorite to mainstream star.
The New York Times called him., External “Proudly (and) satisfactorily hidden”, while DIY magazine claims the record is 29 minutes., External As “honesty, inner victory”.
On Monday, the Official Charts Company said the album will top the album chart this week, fending off competition from Ice Patrol, Shania Twain and The Strokes.
If sales continue, it will be Charlie’s fourth UK number one in February and her second this year.
Over the weekend, the singer released three “B-sides” to iTunes as part of a deluxe edition of the album.
The star had previously told fans they would “never stream it”, but said she changed her mind after fans clamored to hear them.
“I made B-sides for each of the songs that were released before Music, Fashion and Film because it felt natural to pair each song with its proper counterpart – something that’s adjacent to the album but not entirely part of it,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Typically, b-sides tend to be fan favorites… and I guess that’s true of some of the b-sides for this album.
“I felt strongly that I wouldn’t put them on stream because I felt against the whole ethos of those songs, but I knew you all really wanted them so I casually put them on iTunes.”
Fans will hear the new material live next month when Charlie headlines Reading and Leeds Festival.
