Charles Leclerc has signed a two-year contract extension with Ferrari that keeps him with the team until the end of the 2028 Formula 1 season, Sky Sports News understands.
Sky Sports News Also understands that his previous contract was due to expire at the end of this year.
In a statement, Leclerc said: “I couldn’t be happier to continue this journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP.”
“It’s always been more than just a team to me. It’s a team I’ve loved and dreamed of being a part of since I was a kid, and it’s become a second family after all these years.
“Together we have shared incredible moments and some difficult ones, but I believe in this team more than ever, and I am deeply grateful that we will continue to move forward together towards our shared goal of bringing the World Championship back to Maranello.
“Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but it’s a responsibility I would never take.”
“I will continue to give everything I have to bring this team back to where it belongs, at the very top, for everyone in Maranello and above all for the Tifosi, whose passion is the heartbeat of this Scuderia.”
Leclerc has been with the team since joining their driver academy in 2016. He currently sits third in the standings for 2026 behind Mercedes duo Kimi Antonelli and Jorge Russell.
At 28, he is Ferrari’s second most capped driver and is second for pole position behind Michael Schumacher.
Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur added: “Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years and this renewal seems a natural fit for us.
“This season we have seen him grow, becoming not only one of the strongest drivers in Formula 1, but also someone who is fully integrated with the team and represents Ferrari.”
