Champagne and Bullets is on the Mount Rushmore of bad movies

There’s something about a movie like that Room, Trolls 2or Dangerous Effects which I find indisputable. These “bad and good” movies are fantastical adventures where ambition surpasses wealth, potential, and self-awareness to become greater than the sum of their parts. Champagne and Bullets (reissued as GetEven and Return Process) is a movie similar to the old foreign movies.

The film is almost entirely the work of one man, John De Hart. Hart wrote, directed, and stars as Rick Bode in the film. He also sings the musical number from the beginning – The bizarre”Shimmy Slide.” During the play, Hart, who was he says he pumps full of painkillers off his back, is stiff and looks around the room as if he is acting violently. And in a way, this lifeless playing of the country rocker isn’t too difficult in the film.

Cooperation and communication between characters in Champagne and Bullets it is as mysterious and strange as it is Room. Bode and his friend Huck Finney are police officers who lose their badges five minutes into the movie. This leads to a dangerously fast downfall for Finney, who is also getting a divorce after discovering that his wife has been sleeping around. He puts guns in his bills, drinks bleach to get out of jail, and apparently started a cult.

Oh, and speaking of sects, a good part of the plot involves the reappearance of Bode’s old friend, Cindy, who is on the run from a satanic coven that “sacrificed a human child.”

Although it is an action film, the action scenes are very limited, and are presented with all the beliefs of a theme park game show. Hart seemed to be interested in chasing as much filth as possible. There are three long sex scenes with costar Pamela Bryant, who plays Cindy, all of which are songs sung by Hart. In total, they take up 12 minutes of running time in a film that is only 90 minutes long. One scene that takes place in a jacuzzi apparently led Hart’s then-girlfriend to break up with him.
