A remarkable gesture from the Red Devils manager
Manchester United boss Michael Carrick has praised Amad Diallo’s role in his side’s climb up the table, despite not conceding a goal or assist since last December.
The 23-year-old was one of the few bright spots in the 2024-25 campaign that United are trying to forget, as he could have scored more than 11 goals had he not been out for three months with ankle ligament damage.
However, Amad has scored just twice this season and has failed to contribute for the Red Devils since playing for Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.
One of his assists came in a spectacular display in the 2-1 win over Liverpool last October and Carrick made it clear how pleased he was with the player ahead of Sunday’s return leg at Old Trafford.
The coach of “Manchester United” has said about the player’s performance since he took charge in January, through statements highlighted by the “ESPN” network. “I really think Diallo is playing well.”

“I think there’s a lot more to football than just worrying about numbers, especially when you’re playing for a winning team like Diallo.”
He continued. “I see that he offers a lot to the team. He has great talent and ability, and his work ethic and attitude are truly outstanding.”
He continued, “he has played different roles at times, yes, I am a big fan of Amadi.”
“I think he was unlucky because we had to change the game plan against Brentford and that was the only reason he left the pitch.”
“But yeah, I think he gave a lot to the team, and this hidden essence of what happens in the play, and not always what gets the headlines, proves the success of the team, and Diallo is a part of that success.”
Manchester United can clinch qualification on Sunday in a game that will miss Egypt star Mohamed Salah in what would be his last visit to Old Trafford before leaving Liverpool this summer.
