Caroline Dubois: Promoter says Katie Taylor fight would be perfect ‘swansong event’ for Irish boxer | Boxing news

Caroline Dubois is the ideal final opponent for Katie Taylor, says the British world champion’s promoter Nakissa Bidarian.

The Irish boxing legend is yet to confirm his final opponent for his farewell fight, which is expected to take place in Croke Park in Dublin this summer.

Dubois reiterated his desire to face Taylor after defeating Terry Harper last month and his promotional team believes it is the ‘perfect swansong event’ for one of Ireland’s sporting greats.

Caroline Dubois calls out Alicia Baumgardner for what she describes as ‘the biggest fight in women’s boxing’

talking Sky Sports NewsBidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, said: “We want it to happen.

“When I talked about it on our debut show a few weeks ago, I was talking to the UK audience. I think the UK and Ireland would be salivating for a matchup like this.

“I believe it’s a global fight, but certainly for the UK, for the opportunity to pass the torch.

“Tough fight for Caroline, Katie is a fantastic fighter, but I think this is the right swansong event for Taylor in Croke Park against Caroline Dubois.”

Dubois beat Harper on unanimous points as the undefeated 25-year-old added the WBO belt to his WBC lightweight title.

Bidarian is now plotting a career path for Dubois, which could put her on a collision course with American rival Alicia Baumgardner.

“We are actively negotiating for him to come back in August,” Bidarian said. “There are multiple routes he can take.

“She’s been very clear about wanting to fight Alicia Baumgardner. We hope that happens at some point. She has other belts in the division to unify.

“He’s obviously very young, and he’s going to improve, and we think he’s definitely going to be one of the main faces of the game in the next few years, and that’s why we’ve partnered with Sky.”
