The two first ministers met with Burnham on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking later, Ap Irwerth said that he was happy to meet the new Prime Minister and congratulated him on his new role.
“I welcome the opportunity to begin a new relationship between our governments based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to deliver for the people we serve,” he said.
“I know Andy Burnham shares my belief in the power of devolution to change people’s lives for the better. In that spirit, I have made the case for Wales to have equal powers with Scotland through the new Wales Bill, with an emphasis on decentralizing policing and justice and a fair funding model to replace the outdated Barnett formula.”
They also discussed the cost of living problem and adopted a “more cooperative approach to politics,” he said.
“I look forward to further positive and productive discussions as I continue to make the case for fairness and equality for Wales and all its communities,” he said.
