“Manchester United” star Bruno Fernandes sharply criticized former “Red Devils” captain Roy Keane and called him a “liar”.
The Portuguese star revealed he looked up Kane’s number to “talk to him” following the “unwarranted criticism”.
And he presented Bruno Fernandez He had an unforgettable season with Manchester United and won two Premier League Player of the Year awards from the English Premier League and the Writers’ Association. He also became the Premier League’s top goalscorer in a single season (21 assists), but despite this, he did not escape the onslaught of Roy Keane.
Speaking on The Overlap after the Nottingham Forest game in the penultimate round of the Premier League, Kane said sharply:
Kane added: “What I heard at United at the weekend frankly pissed me off. All the talk was about his assists… Everyone, even the players, started talking about this issue, as if the whole game was played for Bruno’s personal number.”
He went on to condemn the Portuguese star’s comments after the game. “He came out in an interview after the game and said, while he was the captain of Manchester United. maybe I should have shot in some shots… but I preferred to pass. Oh, how can your mindset as a leader revolve around personal bests instead of winning the game?
In turn, Fernandez expressed his displeasure with Kane’s harsh criticism and said in statements reported by the Daily Mail. “I have always said that I am not against criticism. I accept everyone’s criticism without exception and I don’t respond to anyone at all. Everyone has an opinion, be it good, bad or otherwise.”
“I don’t like people lying, and in this case what Roy Keane said about me is actually a lie. Fortunately for me, everything is documented. Imagine if it wasn’t for that, people would think that Bruno is the one who is always looking to pass the decisive ball.”
He continued. “My number of assists is always stable. It’s not that I’m trying to add more assists now, no, but I’ve been creating chances since I joined the Premier League. My playstyle hasn’t changed. Roy never saw the same Bruno.”
“I have a lot of respect for Roy Keane and what he has given the club and what he has said. I never said anything wrong.”
“I even asked Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer) for his number to text him, to talk to him, to tell him: “I don’t mind criticism, but I don’t like it when people lie about what I say,” because that’s a little more than I think is acceptable. I accept criticism. I accept that he says things I don’t like. I don’t care what I say, this is not true.’
He added: “He can criticize me, or kill me, or say that I’m not competent, or that I’m not a good leader, or not a good player for the club, whatever. That’s fine, I don’t mind.”
He concluded his statements. “This is his opinion. I don’t like it. I’d rather have Roy Keane praise me sometimes because I’ve achieved something that not many players achieve.”
