British couple detained in Iran ‘denied medical care’

The family of a British couple jailed in Iran have said they are “distressed” after being denied supplies and medical care.

Craig and Lindsay Foreman refused food for nine and eight weeks in their prison conditions.

Lindsay Foreman has lost more than 14 kilograms (31lb) and is suffering from severe scoliosis, tremors and severe physical fatigue, Human Rights Watch’s news agency (Hrana) reported.

She is now “dangerously frail,” the family says.

US-based Craig Foreman – who first went on strike when his phone service went out – reported losing 16kg (35lb).

In a letter published on Tuesday, the family wrote to the East Sussex couple: “Please remember that you are loved by so many people.

“We need your voice, your presence, your laughter and your company.

“We want you well. We want you alive.”
