Samba roster for the 2026 World Championships
Italy’s Carlo Ancelotti, coach of the Brazil national team, has released the preliminary list of “samba dancers” in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, which is scheduled to begin next June in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Brazilian team, which holds the record for the number of victories in the World Cup with five titles, will compete in the third group in the next tournament, which includes the Moroccan team, the Scottish team and the Haitian team.
Veteran star Neymar Jr was on the list along with Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior, while Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus was absent as part of Brazil’s preparations for the next World Cup.
Neymar returns to the Brazil squad for the first time since October 2023 after a long absence due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, an injury that has raised many doubts about his ability to join the World Cup, especially after Ancelotti’s statements in which he stressed that he only relied on 10% fit players.
