Brad Dalke: YouTube star thrilled to be supporting DP World Tour Bow

YouTube star Brad Dalke says he’s thrilled with the support he’s received on his DP World Tour debut.

Dalke, 28, was two shots off the lead heading into the third round of the BMW International Open but toiled on Saturday in Munich for a three-over 75, leaving him seven strokes behind joint leaders Michael Hollick and Bernd Weissberger, who sit at 13 under.

Despite his struggles the American – who played with the likes of Scotty Scheffler, Colin Morikawa and Victor Hovland in his college days and now has a legion of fans for his online golf content – drew a notable gallery and was rewarded with their second birdie on the 18th hole.

“It was fun to birdie the last time in front of the crowd. It’s crazy to me that I’ve never played in a DP World Tour event and I could have the biggest group (of fans) there, the biggest following there.

“Huge shout out to the fans. YouTube golf has grown a lot, and it shows with this crowd. I’ll try to finish strong.”

Dalak’s first appearance at a world-ranked tournament since 2020 comes courtesy of a sponsor concession this week.

He was once an accomplished junior and amateur player, winning the Junior PGA Championship in 2015 and finishing runner-up at the 2016 US Amateur Championship.

He helped Oklahoma win the NCAA Championship in 2017 and played in the Masters and US Open that same year.

Things didn’t go to plan after Dalke turned professional in 2019.

He suffered from well-documented driver problems and when his sponsors, money and some love for the game ran out, he turned to YouTube golf, became part of the Good Good group and learned “how to have fun with golf again”.

He announced last week that he would be leaving the channel, which now has 2.1 million subscribers, so he can focus on supporting his wife through some health issues.

“Before I did YouTube I struggled and didn’t really like golf at times and put pressure on myself. Now I have fun with it,” he added.

“YouTube Golf has some really good golfers. I think we’re starting to show that with my performance here, Ryan Raffles (who finished 45th at the PGA Tour’s Myrtle Beach Classic in May) a few months ago.”
