Boy denies plotting terror attack on two Sutton mosques

A 14-year-old boy has denied plotting terror attacks on two south-west London mosques.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of planning to target two places of worship in Sutton, which prosecutors said was motivated by “extreme right-wing terrorism”.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on July 9 before pleading not guilty to organizing terrorist acts and racially damaging property.

Prosecutors said the mosque attack took place on August 28 and that the teenager had planned a crime spree including “brickwork” and tire slashing, which was nicknamed Operation Terrorist Sutton.

Prosecutor Adam Harbinson put together a manifesto in which the teenager was inspired by Adolf Hitler, Christchurch mosque killer Brenton Taran and neo-Nazi Ander Breivik.

Prosecutors said the boy was arrested and charged with an attack on a mosque in which he smashed the window of a black woman’s car..

The boy has been remanded in youth custody until he appears at the Old Bailey next August 21.
