The Moroccan star achieves a thrilling feat
Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal goalkeeper Yassin Bounou of Morocco continued to write his name in golden letters in his country’s national team history after reaching his 90th cap for the Atlas Lions, cementing his position as one of the most capped players in Morocco’s history.
Bono featured in Morocco’s 1-1 draw with Norway in a friendly as part of the Atlas Lions’ preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
The Al Hilal goalkeeper is fifth in the list of players who have represented the Moroccan national team in history with 90 caps, behind the leaders Noureddine Naybet with 115 caps, Ashraf Hakim (96), Ahmed Firas (94) and Youssef En-Nessiri (92).

Bono has a golden opportunity to move further up the all-time list at the World Cup as he needs just 3 matches to overtake Youssef Al-Nusairi and move into fourth place, while he will need 5 matches to match third-placed Ahmed Firas.
Al Hilal’s goalkeeping roster is set to increase in the near term, especially given Al-Nusairi’s absence from the World Cup, while Firas is considered one of the legends of previous generations who retired years ago.
Bono, one of the most outstanding stars of Morocco’s golden generation, continues to cement his position as one of the greatest goalkeepers in Moroccan football history after contributing many historic achievements in recent years, most notably reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
Morocco are set to take part in the World Cup in Group C, which includes Brazil, Haiti and Scotland, as they begin their campaign with a strong first-round clash against Brazil on Sunday morning.
