Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler is no longer in a coma but remains “critically ill” in hospital near her home in Faro, Portugal.
The 75-year-old singer received Emergency abdominal surgery in May and he was put in a coma to help him recover.
A statement posted on his website said that although his condition is improving and doctors believe he will recover, it was not too late.
All of his remaining movies scheduled for this summer have been canceled, he said, but hopefully some dates in the fall can go ahead.
The update on his recovery came after the singer’s family expressed dismay at “false and false rumours” about his health.
“Bonnie is no longer in a coma but she is very ill and is in a major hospital in Portugal. Although her condition is improving she is slowly progressing,” he said.
“His doctors are confident he will make a full recovery but it will take time.
“Therefore, we regret to inform everyone that we will be canceling, or postponing until next year if possible, all of our remaining shows this summer.
This will affect every show from today until the end of August. At the moment we hope that our exhibitions in the autumn will continue.
The spokesperson apologized for the “disappointment that this will cause” and hoped that the fans “will understand and bear with us during this crisis”.
They added: “We want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support from around the world that we have received for Bonnie and we want to tell you that they know, and I really appreciate, your best wishes.”
He was due to perform at the Sunlight festival in Worcester in August, as well as a number of European dates. They are also booked to perform at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on 17 December.
Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, achieved international fame in the 1980s with the release of his hit single Total Eclipse of the Heart, which spent two weeks as UK No 1, and four weeks at the top of the US charts in 1983.
His husky voice helped make his music instantly recognizable, with hits such as Holding Out For a Hero, It Hurts Your Heart and If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man).
From Neath, south Waleshe was discovered by a talent scout in Swansea, and his first single was released in 1976.
Tyler represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, with the song Believe in Me, which he finished in 19th place.
In 2023, he was made an MBE for music.
