Bollywood actor Kalki Koechlin’s performance on the side of motherhood will surprise the audience

So the play is the story of Kalki and the actors on the stage, but the story of most Indian women is taken for granted, with childcare as the main focus, hard work to do and endless hours spent raising young.

In a scene where most mothers reflect on their lives, it shows a young couple talking about how their day was when the man comes home from work. He is tired but at least he has a story to tell about his time.

Mothers who choose to have careers have to work twice as hard, says Kalki.

“There’s a lot of pressure today because we’re told that we’re so lucky to live in this age that we can be moms and have everything. But at the same time, there’s this hope that there’s going to be some kind of supremacy. And we’re not going to stumble on the domestic front. We should always be the CEOs of the house,” says Kalki.

Kalki says that some of the pressure women put on themselves is because it is expected of them To be good mothers.

“A lot of times I’ll be in the middle of a shoot and I’ll call my babysitter and make a tiffin. I think it comes from that hope of being the perfect mom.”

“But I think it’s important to allow fathers or other family members to fill that space. And if we do that, we want to let women know that not everything is going to fall apart. It’s okay to drop the ball and not feel like you’re responsible for it all.”
