Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are back in court a month after getting married | Blake Lively

Lawyers for US actor Blake Lively appeared before a New York judge on Monday to seek compensation and damages from It Ends with Us co-star Justin Baldoni. A decision was reached last month in their legal battle for many years.

The 38-year-old actor’s legal team said the defamation suit against Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, was retaliation prohibited by California law.

Baldoni’s lawyers denied the claims.

Agence France-Presse could not find out more about Lively’s financial demands.

Lively filed her first complaint against Baldoni in December 2024, claiming that the actor – who also directed the film – made inappropriate comments about her sex life, and wanted to change the film to include sexual scenes that were not in the script.

Lively, who rose to fame on TV’s Gossip Girl, said Baldoni orchestrated a public relations and media campaign to destroy her reputation.

Baldoni and her studio Wayfarer sued Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds with claims of extortion and defamation – but a judge dismissed the claims last year.

Wayfarer has previously insisted that the studio, its management, or its PR team will not do anything to retaliate against Lively.

The party’s judge, Lewis Liman, also disputed some of Lively’s claims, but agreed with her claim that she had retaliated.

All out-of-court settlement proposals reached between the two parties have not been made public.

Based on the best-selling book by US author Colleen Hoover, It Ends With Us is expected to make more than $350m at the box office in 2024, making it one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.
