Black curse.. 14 slaps on Ronaldo’s face with victory

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo continued his unsuccessful streak of winning titles with his Saudi Arabian club Al-Nasr.

Ronaldo was one step away from breaking the doldrums that haunted him with Al-Alami, but he lost to Japan’s Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League 2nd Final on Saturday night.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nasr in January 2023 and he only knew how to win the league once, winning the Arab Club Championship, which is registered as a friendly tournament by FIFA.

The Portuguese lost 14 champions during his career with Al-Nasr.

Ronaldo only has the Saudi Roshan Professional League title to save his face in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo played the second half of the 2022-2023 season with Al-Nasr and lost the Saudi Super Cup, as well as the domestic league, to Al-Ittihad Jeddah, and also bid farewell to the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup at the hands of Al-Wahda.

In the 2023-2024 season, Ronaldo lost the bet with Al-Nasr in the Saudi Roshen League and the AFC Champions League.

That season, Al-Nasr reached the final of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup before losing to Al-Hilal on penalties. He also lost to the same opponent 1-2 in the semi-finals of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup.

Last 2024-2025 season, Al-Nasr finished in third place in the Saudi Roshan League and were also knocked out of the AFC Champions League for Elite in the semi-finals at the hands of Japan’s Kawasaki.

Al-Nasr also lost the Saudi Super Cup final to Al-Hilal 1-4 and were also kicked out of the Two Holy Mosques Cup in the round of 16 at the hands of Al-Taaun.

In the current season, Al-Nasr, along with Ronaldo, bid farewell to the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup by Jeddah Union in the final.

It also lost the Saudi Super Cup final on penalties to Al-Ahly.

Ronaldo failed to lead Al-Nasr to a 2nd AFC Champions League title, so the ‘black curse’ continues with Cristiano still not crowned with the Saudi Arabian side.

Damak's surprises threaten Ronaldo's first crown with Al-Nasr

Al-Nasr top the Saudi Roshan League table with 83 points, one round ahead of their nearest rivals Al-Hilal, just two points behind.

Al-Nasr came close to winning the title in the last round, but Al-Hilal forced them to a fateful 1-1 draw at Al-Awal Park.

Al-Nasr aim to beat Damak to claim the crown, regardless of the result of Al-Hilal’s game against Al-Fayha.

Al-Nasr fear a surprise from Damak, who are struggling to avoid relegation as they currently sit in 15th place with 29 points.

If Al-Nasr wins the Saudi Roshen League title, it will be the Portuguese Don’s first official title with an international team.
